Enterprising Rural Women Awards 2006
B&B group

East Daylesford is a member of The Colvend Coast Bed & Breakfast Group who reached the Finals of the prestigious Country Living Magazine's 'Enterprising Rural Women Awards 2006'.

The competition, now in its sixth year, recognises and rewards excellence in rural enterprise.

In 2006, the competition attracted 120 entries nationwide and the group, who were one of only 6 finalists, were presented with the award at a private ceremony at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show on the 6th July 2006.
The Group is dedicated to offering a high standard of accommodation, service and care to visitors in this National Scenic Area in South West Scotland. For more information, please visit our group web site ColvendBreaks.com.

The Area

There's much to see and do while you are on holiday with plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, watersports and more.

Kippford

The coast has some picturesque seaside villages including Kippford (pictured here) on the Solway Firth.

Many local crafts, potteries, art galleries and exhibitions can be visited throughout the area.

Sandyhills beach

Beaches (2 minutes by car)
Rockcliffe - rockpools, sandy beaches, toilets.
Sandyhills - wide sandy beaches, toilets, car park.

Threave Castle

Gardens
Created by The National Trust for Scotland, the gardens at Threave House (just outside Castle Douglas) are open all year and are marvellous at any time. Threave Castle can also be visited nearby.

The variety of plants, trees and shrubs and the mild climate of the Gulf Stream in this part of Scotland make it a must to visit. There are many more gardens to visit in Dumfries & Galloway.

Barnacle Geese

Birdwatching
Lots of different habitats around the area including broadleaf woodland and forests, lochs and cliffs. Thousands of Barnacle Geese fly here for the winter which is a wonderful sight.
